APPLICATIONS

Venlafaxine is an antidepressant structurally unrelated chemically to any other antidepressants. It inhibits both serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake. It is also used to treat OCD ( obsessive-compulsive disorder ) or FMS (Fibromyalgia). The hydrochloride samlt of venlafaxine is a a white to off-white crystalline powder; melting point 215 - 217 C; soluble in water; administered orally. The chemical designation is (+/-)-1-(alpha-((dimethylamino)methyl)-p-methoxybenzyl)cyclohexanol hydrochloride.

SSRIs are used to treat depressions and effective for obsessive-compulsive disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, premenstrual dysphoric mood disorder, panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and bulimia. Drugs used to treat depressions include;
